New tool 2Challenge is Mash of the Month for March

March 1, 2022

Each month we highlight a different tool or application within Purple Mash and how it can be used within the classroom to support learning across the curriculum. We call this the Mash of the Month. During the month, if you share how you have used the #MashoftheMonth, you will then be entered into a draw to win a 2Simple Goody Bag!

Our #MashOfTheMonth for March is a brand new application within Purple Mash – 2Challenge. Designed for teacher use, 2challenge is a great quick start tool for supporting learning engagement, promoting challenge, inspiring children and getting them thinking. The concept is based around having key questions presented with cards with information on.  These can be flipped and re-orientated for flexibility.

2Challenge is flexible and non-subject specific. It can be used for early morning work, after lunch, as a starter in lessons, to introduce a new topic, ot to reinforce key learning. It can even be used for interventions as the cards can also be printed. This video highlights the key features of 2Challenge:

When launching 2Challenge, teachers are presented with three main options:

  • Make my own
  • Maths
  • English

There are inbuilt activities within the English and Maths sections. The advantage these have is that they can be edited, adapted and saved to suit the needs of the teacher or teaching assistant. The ready-made activities for these subjects cover a multitude of topics from numbers to spellings to fractions. They can all be saved so that you can create activities for each day in the week. Once saved you can also share with other staff in the school or year group, thus enabling you to save time.

You can also choose the make your own option. You will be presented with a blank space where you can add up to 15 cards and a place to write a question. You can add pictures or words and use this in a multitude of ways to introduce a topic as the children come in first thing in the morning or to reinforce key learning. The video below explains how you can make your own:

We can’t wait to see how you use 2Challenge. You can share examples via our Twitter or Facebook pages, and if you share this March with the #MashoftheMonth hashtag you'll be entered into our monthly draw to win a 2Simple prize!
