Feb. 7, 2023
The 2023 Women’s ICC T20 World Cup begins on 10th February and will be the eighth edition of the tournament. It will be held in South Africa and runs until 26th February.
Now, it’s a little bit dreary outside in the UK for cricket, but we’ve rounded up some resources so you don’t have to, ahem, Googly them 😉.
If you do want to brave the elements and get your class outside on those warmer days we might be blessed with then give Striver, our full PE scheme, a run. Your pupils will be bowled over! Striver has full units of work on cricket for years 3 and 5, but can easily be utilised for other year groups.
Each Unit of Works comes complete with a unit overview (with a summary and prior learning link), a start and end-of-unit assessment activity, teaching tips and 6 full lessons.
Inside each lesson you’ll find:
Alongside all of this is the assessment and report centre, where you can assess children throughout every lesson and create a quick report based on your assessments.
The writing opportunities for a sporting event of this size are endless. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
In science, you could investigate how different balls move and investigate forces in action or investigate the link between leg length and how many runs can be scored in a certain amount of time. Use our Fair Test booklet to plan a fair test.
For a fun music lesson, play your class this classic song and see if they can create a new cricket-themed song, or a song with a Reggae feel.
In geography, your class can research the countries playing and compare their physical features. Or look at the stadium localities - how does Capetown, Gqerberha or Paarl compare to your local area?
