The Bett show series | Striver

March 15, 2022

The leading EdTech trade show in the UK is back and we’ll be there! Bett 2022 is a free event that is taking place from 23rd to 25th March 2022 at London Excel. Each day in the run up to #BETT2022 we will be showcasing one of our products that you can find out more about at the show. You can find us on stand NE61 in the teaching and learning area.

Striver

Striver was created to improve primary aged pupils long-term physical and mental wellbeing; it’s a complete PE scheme of work that not only focuses on the physical health of pupils but also their mental health with dedicated wellbeing units. It has been built around the realities of modern teaching and uses technology to allow teachers to do more in less time.

Designed by a team of three practicing PE specialists who each have over 10 years’ experience, Striver contains step-by-step lessons, enabling every teacher, from the non-specialist to the more experienced member of staff, to run engaging PE classes spanning a broad range of different sports and activities. The lesson plans are available offline in the sports hall or field via the Striver mobile app, saving printing costs and time.  Support for PE leaders is built into Striver with a toolkit housing a range of useful documents.

Achieve your best

Over 400 lessons from EYFS to Year 6 focus on developing the underlying key skills that make up all sports and activities, breaking things down into key skills creating more opportunities for children to experience improvement. It also means children will feel confident to try out new activities independently.

Each unit starts with a Personal Best Activity where children set and record their personal best. At the end of the unit the children try and beat their personal best score and Striver shows you exactly how much each child has improved. The only person the children are competing against is themselves!

Features and benefits

As well as the tracking system and the offline app for viewing planning and resources, Striver also enhances the everyday life of teachers with the following features:

  • One touch in-lesson assessment. Using Striver’s bespoke assessment tool assessing a whole class takes a matter of minutes and your whole school's data is synced in the cloud.
  • Powerful PE reporting tool. It's easy to produce a range of powerful reports with Striver, and they can be saved online or exported to excel.
  • Effortless organisation and planning. Striver includes a whole school planner calendar function that means it is effortless to organise PE and wellbeing, ensuring comprehensive curriculum coverage.
  • Subject Leader Support. Take advantage of the progression of skills documents, knowledge organisers and a PE Leader Toolkit.
  • Striver across your school. Engage everyone with active lunchtime activities and mindfulness postcards.

Striver and wellbeing

Striver brings wellbeing to the forefront in schools. The government’s statutory RSE guidance from 2020 introduced mandatory mental health education in primary schools for the first time and there are six dedicated wellbeing units all mapped to the guidance. Children study the wellbeing topics each year going into more depth each time, showing pupils that mental wellbeing is a normal part of daily life, in the same way as physical health.
