Mental Health Awareness week, hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, is an annual event when there is an opportunity for the whole of the UK to focus on achieving good mental health. This year it takes place from 13th to 19th May and has the theme of ‘Movement: Moving more for our Mental Health.
To support schools, with Mental Health Awareness Week, we have featured a range of resources from Purple Mash and free resources from Striver, that schools can use across the week, including a handy guide to share with parents.
Striver was created with the sole purpose of improving primary aged pupils’ long-term physical and mental well-being. It is a complete PE scheme of work that includes 6 wellbeing units which aim to boost self-esteem and build resilience.
A perfect way to get pupils moving is during break and lunchtimes and with the weather hopefully improving, our Striver Active lunchtime pack is the perfect way to get children active. Children can apply to be a sports leader and run the activities outlined in the pack. Each card outlines a different activity and resources needed to run it. These can be printed and laminated and used by Sports Leaders.
There are a range of writing templates, posters, emails and quizzes all available within Purple Mash for subscribers that they can use to support pupils with Mental Health. These include our popular Dear Mrs Jones resources that children can use to offer advice on a range of topics from transition to friendship. Pupils can also use templates to write or draw what makes them happy and their 6 steps to Good Mental Health.

A Parent’s toolkit for wellbeing would be perfect to share with parents and carers during this week, written by experts in the field. The toolkit provides a range of steps and strategies that parents and carers can use to support their children.
