The sights and sounds of the gardens are captured in this text written for upper primary students. Students can choose to:

  • read the story on screen,
  • or read along and listen via the e-book option,
  • or watch and listen to the accompanying video reading
  • or print the text to read away from the screen and notate should they wish.

As with all our Serial Mash books, there are related activities; Wellama's activities include digital game creation, poetry writing, quizzes, comprehension tasks, graph making, painting, and a 'The Story Continues' writing frame.

You can find Wellama on Serial Mash. The story, told over 6 chapters, follows Brak as he reluctantly visits his aunt and cousins in Sydney. He would most definitely prefer to be at home debugging an unexplained bug in his computer game. However, his visit takes him to very unexpected places as he time travels to learn life lessons only the past can teach.

If you are not a Serial Mash subscriber, you can access all the books and more via a free trial Purple Mash.
